Unsupported hardware detected (Windows)

Post by cleauid »

I have a MacBook Pro late 2008 unibody. When I try and run Macs Fan Control in Windows 7 on bootcamp I keep getting the following message 'Unsupported hardware detected. The program is able to run on Apple hardware only.'

Is it possible to run Macs Fan Control on this MacBook Pro?

Please try this build:
http://www.crystalidea.com/downloads/ma ... _test2.exe

Use MacsFanControl.exe /log parameter and paste contents of MacsFanControl.log

Thank you for the information. Looks like the app fails to read SMBIOS information on your Windows.
What we need is to find out how to get it in order to make the app work

What do you have at this registry value?
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SystemInformation

command line:
regedit /e export.reg HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SystemInformation

PS. Do you actually have BootCamp installed?

Here is a copy of the registry entry

Name Type Data
(Default) REG_SZ (value not set)
BIOSReleaseDate REG_SZ 02/06/12
BIOSVersion REG_SZ MBP51.88Z.007E.B06.1202061253
InformationSource REG_DWORD 0x00000000 (0)
SystemManufacturer REG_SZ Apple Inc.
SystemProductName REG_SZ MacBookPro5,1

Apologies if it does not display correctly.

Bootcamp is installed - Version 4.0, which I understand is the latest version that the 'late 2008' MacBook Pro can run

With you mentioning the bootcamp, I am wondering whether the following programs Power Plan Assistant & Trackpad++ are part of the problem as they require bootcamp. See http://trackpad.powerplan7.com/

The main reason that I have them installed is disable the trackpad whilst typing. I could try uninstalling them to see if it makes a difference.

I've found and fixed the bug preventing MFC running on your mac under Windows.

Thanks to your help, here's the newest build:
http://www.crystalidea.com/downloads/ma ... _test3.exe

If it works, please post a screenshot of the program and technical information from the about dialog.
