I have the same issue on my i7 Quad-Core iMac 11,1.   Only two cores show up, but I am confirmed running 8 threads over 4 cores. v1.4.9 Macs Fan Control only shows 2 Cores, but this is i7 quad-core with 8 threads running.   I'm hitting 92C doing Handbrake encodes.
