My recommendation is to warn / notify the user they are about to overwrite a file.
I have not yet checked to see if the newer file actually overwrites the older file. Validation, Validation, Validation!

Some may call this a bug, others not. I can save a log (after installing with Install and Trace a Program ) to a previously saved log file and it does not warn or ask me about overwriting the current file.
My recommendation is to warn / notify the user they are about to overwrite a file.

I wouldn't call it bug, but it's improved in the current development version (3.4) (added a confirmation prompt)
