Uninstall Tool 3.4.1 beta

Post by Steven »

What's new:

- Skip displaying of Windows 7/8 UAC elevation dialogs (when they are enabled in system) when starting Uninstall Tool (can be annoying). Currently set for desktop shortcut and when starting Install Tracker from context menu for exe/msi setup file
- Fixed removing itself in trial period

Setup
Portable (if you have a portable license)

Installed the new 3.4.1 beta, UAC popup still shows (for both main program and Install Tracker).
Do I need to enable a setting? I could not find anything for this.

Using Windows 8.1 Pro x64
UAC is at its default setting.

That's strange. Please check if 'RunUninstallTool_SkipUac' task is enabled in Windows Task manager.

Nope, only "Uninstall Tool Helper for x64 systems" is running.

I reinstalled the beta, to check if I accidentally did not uncheck any options (only option unchecked was to create a shortcut ... the install tracker + create shortcut in control panel were checked).

I also disabled my AV and reinstalled again, but the needed process just does not start (= did not help).

I actually meant running taskschd.msc
and check for "'RunUninstallTool_SkipUac' task"

I searched, but could not find the mentioned "RunUninstallTool_SkipUac".
I searched at left and bottom pane (see screenshot).

If I am still missing something, please give more specific instructions.

Please re-download the beta again.

UAC elevation shouldn't be asked in two cases
- When running the app from desktop icon
- When Install Tracker is executed from context menu

Ok, re-downloaded, reinstalled.
Both conditions you mention are met this time. UAC is not activated in those cases.

Its a bit unfortunate UAC gets activated when Utool is started from taskbar.

Nevertheless, thank you for your hard work Steven.

3.4.1 is no longer beta:

Unfortunately it's no possible to hide UAC whe the app is pinned to Taskbar :(

Yeah, I thought it is a limitation of the OS, otherwise you would implement it as well.
I do not mind the one click on UAC anyway.

I have installed the stable version already and I am looking forward to the new 3.5 version.

Utool has come a long way from the free 1.x version ... how time flies 8-)

It is now possible in Windows 10 :)
No UAC pop-up when launching Uninstall Tool 3.4.3 from Taskbar.
Just FYI, if you did not notice this yet Steven.
