trial regular product, purchase portable - install tracking?

I'm probably going to be buying the portable license, so I can use the product on all my pcs. Is it actually a different download than the trial version? Concerned I might have to uninstall trial and wondering how that would affect the tracked installs.

The thrust of the question is, what happens to the tracked install data from the trial? Is it lost because a portable version (now confirmed as different code) is installed?

No, it won't lost. Tracked data is shared between normal and portable versions.
