Support of old CPU without SSE2

Uninstalltool Portable abended on my desktop with "Uninstall Tool has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." There were no issues under Win7, but the abend deep-sixed my plan to identify the software on the desktop which has been useful in the past (JIC it is ever needed again).

Malwarebytes found nothing, and there has been nothing operational which hints of a virus.

According to Google, "the 0xc000001d error is a common yet critical error that can occur when Windows is damaged or fails to work as a result of either missing system files or corrupt system components. This error can be extremely dangerous to Windows as it can inflict major damage to data and component files." Scratch the registry, CCleaner found nothing and this is a PC which has run error-free for years so an install error seems highly unlikely.

Some applications on the XP desktop are not available under Win7, so it is still useful and if there is a latent problem it needs to be identified. My assumption is that there is something peculiar/off about my desktop which is not affecting normal operation but whatever is that is abending Uninstall could become an issue so would like to eliminate it.

Presumably, the error code means something to CrystalIdea, so if anyone knows what 0xc000001d error means, that may help me find the problem.

I tried with 3.45, 3.50 and 3.51 (see last paragraph for 3.51)

All that changes between them is the offset.

Have you tried normal (not portable) version of the app?

The regular version requires installation, and in light of the portable version having abended, am unwilling to do an install in case it bricks the system.

I do not have a license yet, as this started with my googling how to get a list of installed programs and came across a recommendation to use Geek Uninstaller which could be run from a USB stick. The link took me to http://www.geekuninstaller.com/download and I usually buy the Pro version of software.

The Pro link took me to http://www.crystalidea.com/uninstall-tool?source=geek where the Key Features listing of Portable Mode took me to http://www.crystalidea.com/uninstall-tool-portable where I downloaded the Portable Version under Win7.

The download was saved to USB and executed from USB. Uninstall ran fine, bringing up the list of installed programs that were exported to html. My expectations were for the same result when the USB was moved to the XP desktop.

If the XP problem can be solved then I will be purchasing for installation on my Win7 system, with a license to use the portable version.

The problem happens only on Windows XP 32-bit ? If yes, what is your CPU there? Looks like it doesn't have SSE2. Intel CPUs support SSE starting from 2001, AMD - from 2003.

> Looks like it doesn't have SSE2

Correct, it is a Barton, the generation before SSE2 was available on AMD.

Well, we can compile Uninstall Tool without SSE2 support, that that wouldn't be correct because most users (99.9%...) wouldn't get benefit from SSE2.
If you buy the app, I can recompile the current version for you without SSE2 (only SSE).

Please re-download, I've forgot to recompile the dependent library as well. Must work now (I hope). Unfortunately I don't have hardware to test

Follow up: we'll disable SSE2 for the next official version of Uninstall Tool (32-bit of cause, 64-bit comes always with SSE2)
