No Fan displayed

Post by Raflatac »

Hi guys,

I'm trying to speed down my fans on a macbook pro 15', 6,2, Mid-2010, El capitan 10.11.3.
I make it work without any battery, because i'm waiting for a new one, and a magsafe board to change.
But in this mode, fans are always running high. So, as I know that CPU's are not warm, i'd like to speed down the fans with a software. Because I don't want to order fans too in 3 days . . .
I'm trying fan control, but i got no fan displayed !! 0 !

I tried to kill the app and modify the pref file, doesn't work. I tried various versions of the soft, nothing !

Does anyone have an idea about this issue ?
Hope my english's enough for you to understand this problem !

Thx

R.

Looks like SMC doesn't work on this macbook. Have you try to reset it?

Yeah, I just tried that and it doesn't change anything.
So, it seems the SMC doesn't work at all. It may be because my battery is dead, and i'm running in the "no battery mode".

I'm waiting for a new one, a new charger and a new magsafe i/o board. I should maybe wait for these spares to be replaced before trying anything else . .

What do you think ?

Thx for your help !

For me - yes, it looks like it's because your battery is missing (and magsafe I/O board?). Never tried to run the app with no battery mode, but will try.

Allright. Battery is in the MB, but it runs in "no battery mode", that's the only way to make it start !

That's why i ordered an i/o board too . . the old board is (of course) present, but i'm thinking about a miscommunication between magsafe, dead battery and motherboard.

So, i'll wait for theses spare parts to come and change them all.

Thx again for your time !

Thank you !
I'll update this post when it will be done. Can't send it to Apple, so back on the screwdrivers for a total dismounting !
Have a nice week-end !
