Version 1.4 - unsupported hardware

Post by Asphalter »

Upgraded to version 1.4 and now Macs Fan Control does not work on my Retina MacBook Pro.

"Unsupported hardware detected"

Going back to version 1.3.3 now gives the same message.

1. which Windows are you using?
2. What do you have under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SystemInformation
(export this registry key or make a screenshot)

Don't know why it's empty.

Should be something like that

Interesting, maybe my boot camp driver has become corrupted.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Please run this tool
http://www.crystalidea.com/downloads/dmidecode.zip

And redirect its output to some text file. E.g. open cmd.exe and type there

Code: Select all

dmidecode.exe > output.txt
After that, please attach this output.txt file here.

Please try the dev version, it should work
http://www.crystalidea.com/downloads/ma ... up_dev.exe

Alternative solution
Well, it means this utility correctly detects the hardware. Please create 2 string values SystemManufacturer and SystemProductName matching the output.txt:
Manufacturer: Apple Inc.
Product Name: MacBookPro11,3
in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SystemInformation
in order to let the app work. I'll fix this in 1.4.1

I couldn't get the reg fix to work with 1.4.0 but the dev version 1.4.1 allows me to change fan speed (which is the main use of the app to me).

Thanks very much.
