Update from 1.4.1 to 1.4.2 fails: "error extracting update"

Post by Steven »

IMPORTANT:

When you have version 1.4.1 installed, automatic update to 1.4.2 will fail because of the bug in the app.
Please update manually by downloading 1.4.2 from our website and replacing 1.4.1 in your /Applications folder.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi, thanks for your response... I downloaded it once again & it worked fine. Not sure what happened, but it is working now, so all's good. Thanks for your time.

Hi there Steven,

Thanks for a great app. Just to let you know that the automated update function does not work with the latest update.

See the error message below.

I had same problem with latest update to 1.4.2.
Updating from within the app gave the 'error extracting update' on two different systems.
downloading from the website and manually installing worked fine.

Update from 1.41 to 1.42 not occurring

Post by Mondrian »

I downloaded the update to Macs Fan Control 1.42. It downloads, but at the end returns a message which says "error extracting update". All previous updates have taken place without incident. I am using the latest version of OSX. Is there anything I need to do to extract the update properly?

Don't use the auto-updater function when it pops up (choose "Remind me Later"). Download the latest version from the website, then quit MacsFanControl and replace it with the newer version.

Same for me. A fresh install worked fine.
