Auto downgrade issue : 1.4.3 --> 1.4.1 loop!

Post by jaimebcn »

Hi, greetings everybody!
I am new in Mac-World and one friend recommend me "Mac Fan Control".

Have an issue:
I download the v1.4.3, and I copy the file to my "Aplicantions" folder. When I run the program, I click on "About.." I can see "Version 1.4.3"

Everything is ok here.

When I start or restart my MAC ... Mac Fan control shows me a popup message that it says: "There are a newer version"
An when I click on "About" ... surprise! Mac Fan control say: v1.4.1

I tried to uninstall and do a fresh installation with the v1.4.3 but the issue persists.
My OSX version is 10.11.6 (15G31) El Capitan

Thank you four your time and help!

Solved!
I removed the app from the startup (had two apps with same name and one causes the error), and removed the app with AppCleaner and reinstalled again.

Thank you! :good:

Hi,
I am having the same identical problem that the user "jaimebcn" was having.

I have been using the Mac Fan Control for some time with absolutely no issues. But this morning, I turned on my iMac 27" (2011) that has OSX El Capitan v10.11.6 and I too am getting that "a newer version is available message window" show up every time I power up or restart my mac.

I wait for it too timeout. Go to the "Show Mac Fan Control" and I am not able to manually set my fan speeds like I use to before.

Under "Custom" settings I can move the speed "slider" or enter the speed manually in the right hand entry box. That is for all of my fans.

I clicked on "Auto" thinking that maybe it would reset something. But now when I select "Custom", I am unable to manually set the speed for any of my fans. And so, they are all at "0" and I can no longer hear the fans running.

This all worked just fine until this morning.

Yes, I have the latest v1.4.3 (iMax 12,2).

I have checked my "StartupItems" and there is only the one app.

I uninstall and reinstalled with no success.

I did a SMC reset and no change.

Is there something else that I can do to correct this?

All the best

Steven,
I figured it out on my own...

The Macs Fan Control 1.4.4 that is shown on the http://www.crystalidea.com/download website is v1.4.3

I downloaded that file and ran it as I did several times in the day day or two...but then I figured out how to upgrade it to v1.4.4

"right click" on the Menubar Display for Mac Fan Control and select, "More" and "Check for updates"

Download the new v1.4.4 and run it...select "restart" Mac Fan Control...

Done...and it now works great, just as it did prior to v1.4.3

Steven,
The post that you last made is NOT correct.

That download link gives you v1.4.3.

And as I posted right before your last post, you then have to "upgrade to v1.4.4" using my procedure.

I don't understand why, you are misleading people.

Anyway...anyone having problems and still are getting v1.4.3 after downloading, just use my procedure and all will be well.
