Te following info is for Windows 8.

While Macsfancontrol runs manually when run as administrator, it does not start up at boot time. It also will run if the compatablilty mode is set to "Windows XP SP3" and the hard drive is shown in the list, but it still does not starup properly at boot time although it can be manually started, and fan speed is adjusted by drive temperature.

So I reinstalled the Log 5 version and when it tried to startup at boot time the following message was received.

It says Runtime Error
Program C:\Programs Files (x86)\Macs Fan COntrol \MacsFanControl.exe

R6025
- pure virtual function call

The log file is:

Re: Crash on startup on Windows 8

Does it happen on Windows 8 only?
Does it happen only on startup? Every time?
Does it happen with compatity mode set to Windows XP?
Does it happen when setting running as admin in compatibility mode?

Thanks

I do not know about Windows 7, need to install win 7.

if run as administrator, or in Windows XP sp3, I do not get the error message at boot time but it does not startup upon booting. If manually started it works fine.

Need to think about problem more.

I may load Windows 7 with only installing the Mac Drivers and test tonight.

I'll make beta 5 running only under admin rights so there won't be any crash.

debush,
but it does not startup upon booting
any error message?
I may load Windows 7
I don't think it will change a lot, actually

Windows 7 if started in compatibility Windows XP SP3 mode or if started as Administrator works okay and will start up at boot time.

Windows 8 if started in compatibility Windows XP SP3 mode or as Administrator sees the HD but will NOT start up automatically at boot time. After Windows is booted if you click the shortcut on the desktop it starts and works properly. I am giving up on Windows 8 on the iMac with the replaced HD and may actullaly no longer use Windows on the iMac
