S.M.A.R.T. status trouble

Post by yosiot »

I am using Mac min late 2012 running under OS X 10.8.3.

Before I started Macs Fan Control 1.0.1, Disk Utility's
report was "S.M.A.R.T. Status : Verified". But after I
started it, the content of the report suddenly changed
into "S.M.A.R.T. Status : Not Supported".

Then, after exiting Mac Fan Control, the content of the
report changed and "S.M.A.R.T. Status : Verified" is
recovered again.

These phenomena suggest the process of Macs Fan Control
will interfere with other important tools. I checked
Marce Bresnik's Temperature Monitor which also collects
S.M.A.R.T. info. I cannot find the similar phenomena
described above.

yosiot,

Thanks for this report.

The problem is similar (same) to this, MFC uses exclusive access to update S.M.A.R.T. temperatures.

I'm going to fix this issue soon in 1.0.2

I was thinking two problems shares common behaviour of MFC in accessing to get S.M.A.R.T. data. I am looking forward the new release of MFC.
