I have 1.1.8 and it tells me that a new update to 1.1.9 is available, so I select download and install.
It downloads, but does not install.
1.1.8 stops, Icon disappears from menu bar, but new version is not copied to Utilities.
I have worked around it by downloading directly from website, quitting MFC and installing new version, but it would be good if the auto-updater worked.
Cheers

was 1.1.8 installed to /Applications/Utilities/ ? (or /Applications/)

Re: 1.1.9 auto-update fails
I had the same problem with auto-update failing described by phantom_fa and the solution was also to manually download and install 1.1.9. Part of the problem may have been that I had MFC installed in a sub-folder e.g. /Applications/Utilities/Misc Utilities rather than in /Applications/Utilities.
I had the additional problem of MFC 1.1.9 giving an error message along the lines of: could not get control of the SMC…because another (fan?) application had control…. and so on, even though MFC is the only Fan app I have installed, and it's been working fine for a year through several updates.
The solution for this 2nd problem was also to install to /Applications/Utilities rather than my sub-folder listed above.
All is working fine now, thanks for a great (and free!) app.

Yes, it's fixed in 1.1.10. So it must be fine when you'll update to 1.1.11
