Drop support of OS X 10.6
Current version of Macs Fan Control (1.2.1) is compatible with OS X 10.6.x (which is about 7% of our website users). Unfortunately future version of the app will not support 10.6 because it takes a lot of time for us to maintain 10.6 compatibility. Mentioned version is the last to support 10.6, but one will always be able to download it from the download page. Any Intel Mac that was released after 2006 which CPU is at least "Intel Core 2 Duo " is eligible to install OS X 10.7
MacPro1,1 and MacPro2,1 users are able to install 10.7 (or even 10.10 yousemite) using some hacks. Find how in Google/Youtube. Useful link1, link2

Macs Fan Control 1.2.1 for OS X 10.6
I echo the irritation of the OP here. I had to register to voice this.
Being a coder myself I find it rather sloppy coding to not allow the user to opt out of the update check.
(yes there is a skip and disable update check in previous to 1.2, but it did not work. It still checked and pestered with that 10 sec window and no fan spinup.)
On top of that, NOT spinning up the fans while the 10 second timer is counting down.
Do you understand that not all users can upgrade OS and/or hardware, either by knowledge or ability to afford?
By not spinning up the fans you are essentially padding the pockets of Apple by allowing some machines to fry in 10 seconds.
Being an owner of 4 Xserve 1.1s with max ram and 2 quad core CPUs all it takes is that 10 seconds to overheat.
Secondly, I DID update to the 1.2, thankfully you removed that counter, or at least I have not seen it yet.
But again I call sloppy coding that your application does NOT do an OS check before an update check.
If you drop 10.6 support, why is it checking for updates if the user is on the last known compatible version?
Update check should be inclusively and finally decided by the user.
Update check should check OS and stop pestering the user.
Otherwise I do appreciate you providing this little piece of magic for the macs.
Many of which due to Apple's sloppy hardware designs tend to overheat or get close even when brand new.
I would like to request a version 1.2.1 that disables update checks

Thanks much. Even with the crabby tone I do appreciate this tool.
Re: Drop support of OS X 10.6
Thanks very much for this version, disabling update check.
I remotely administer an iMac, running 10.6.8. It has a faulty fan sensor, which causes the CPU fan to run at full speed all the time.
Macs Fan Control (1.2.1) has tamed this very nicely but, because the iMac auto starts in the morning, there is no one there to click on the "Continue" button.
This version, which I've just remotely installed on the iMac, eliminates this issue.
Well done!

Why don't upgrade to 10.7 (10.8, 10.9, 10.10) ?

This particular iMac functions basically as a file sharing unit.
The five client computers are ancient, but work just fine, and are running Leopard ... one is even running Tiger!
With SL installed, this iMac has performed absolutely flawlessly, and the client computers have no problems connecting to it.
Accordingly, I'm reluctant to make any changes ... if it's not broke, don't fix it.
Regards,
Warren

Yes, thanks for the Mac OS 10.6.x version, without the update notice.
One thing, would it be possible to get it to start up in its "hidden to the menu bar" display, rather than opening its window every system startup? This used to be the state of things with the former 1.2.1, prior to issuing this 10.6 specific version.

Nothing changed, really. When the app is lauched automatically as Startup Item, it must start /minimized
Also you can try using command line

Must? This is just my point - it does NOT start minimized.Steven wrote: it must start /minimized

Upon starting up, or re-booting, either of my machines into Mac OS 10.6.8, MFC's main window appears, unbidden and unwanted.

Re: Drop support of OS X 10.6
Thanks - let me know when and if you have something test-worthy, and I'll be happy to try it here on both my 10.6.8 machines.
My suspicion is that it's something to do with the way the Mac OS handles Start-up applications in its System Preferences > Accounts > Login Items. In MFC, checking the "Autostart minimized...," box in the Preferences places it on the Mac's list, and I wonder if the Mac is not tricked into starting (or calling) it twice, which might account for the open window. I've tried checking the "Hide" box in the System Preferences, but this has no effect.

Yup, I was having the same problem as Frank.
Re-downloading the legacy 10.6 version was the solution.
Thanks for highlighting the problem, Frank, and thanks to CrystalIDEA for solving it!
