Hello. I just installed Macs Fan Control and I must say it is the best app for me to monitor cpu temp.
I set it so that it starts minimized with the system. However right after the first boot Mac Os X (Mavericks) asked me to enter user password in order to let MFC do something?
Why does MFC need user password? What does it do? None of the other system and temperature monitor apps that I used in the past asked me to enter password other than while being installed.
Can anyone enlighten me?
Thanks.

Normally MFC needs admin password only once in order to let it control fan speed.

Thanks. But what if I do not intend to use it for fan control? I need it just to monitor temperature? Do I have an option to disable fan control so that I do not have to cancel password prompt everytime I boot my computer?Steven wrote:rolanddes

It shouldn't ask everytime, only once. After you have entered the correct password, it won't ask

But it will keep asking if I do not enter the passwordSteven wrote:It shouldn't ask everytime, only once. After you have entered the correct password, it won't ask

Re: MFC Needs User Password to do what?
It's limitation of OS architecture. Nothing serious is really possible without admin password.
It's like installing a new app, MFC needs password to setup some external tools in order to make it possible to modify fan speeds.
Good luck

Could you be specific on the changes it does to the system? For example, does it modify some files' permissions and which files?
