About a week ago I opened my Mac up to clean some dust out to try and cool it down, which included spraying with compressed air and removing dust balls and hair wrapped around the fan. After putting things back and turning the computer back on, my fan immediately went to a high speed. It's working fine, my computer is working fast and is the coolest it's been in a while. Still, the loud fan is very annoying and obvious. I tried restarting my computer, checking the connections, doing an SMC Reset, and downloading Macs Fan Control.app, none of which has worked.
The issue with the Macs Fan Control.app is that it does not register the fan speed or respond to any of the sensors. I have tried controlling by every sensor and setting the RPM to a constant speed, but it always shows zero and the fan speed doesn't slow. Is it the app or the fan that is the issue?

Re: RPM Showing Zero But Fan Is Loud
It appears that it is the fan. After doing an Apple Hardware Test, I received the error code "4MOT/4/40000002: Exhaust - 0."Steven wrote:I suspect physical damage.
