Lengthening installation time

Is there a way to lengthen the time to monitor/trace an installation in order to run the application at least once in case the application makes some initial changes to the registry and/or creates new files?

When all installation processes are finished the installation is considered finished.
So, currently it's recommended to tell the setup (if such option exists) to run the program after installation.

"Lengthening installation time" in terms of allowing to run some other .exe files and watch for them is dangerous. But...
What about the following feature: Select from the list of just created .exe files one to run and watch after installation??

that could be a good option!. something like a First Run button at the same window with install-trace results.
