Problem with fan speed and sensor

Post by apple020997 »

Hi everyone!
I've got an iMac Mid 2011 (i7, 6770m). I'm using Macs Fan Control in both OS X Mavericks and Win7 64. I'm VERY happy with this program, BUT...
...It's from 2-3 versions before the last (I don't remember it perfectly) that:
1) The sensor GPU Diode, which I've set to control the ODD fan disappears and appears every 2-3 restarts of the iMac, but in the Windows versions it stays always in the temp sensors list;
2) The CPU fan max speed is 2590 RPM in OS X version but in Windows version is about 4000 RPM (I have this problem since I've installed Macs Fan Control in OS X, also in Mountain Lion).

Can you fix these errors? They aren't very important, but I think that without them the program will be PERFECT.
Thanks for the response.
Federico

P.S I'm Italian and I'm 16 years old...

Identical problem here, with identical machine but running OSX 10.6.8.

Never had a problem with SMC Fancontrol.

Please try version 1.1.10, enable log by pressing 'L' key in the preferences window.
After you reproduced the issue (missing GPU Diode) sensor, please send us the log (located on your desktop).

Hi!
In these days I can't try with my machine the last version in OS X. The problem with the CPU fan speed is still remaining, in Windows with the last version (and the version before).

I think iMac increases max fan speed when running on Windows to improve efficiency of cooling.

MFC doesn't set max speed, it's what is obtained from the smc system

Very strange. I've tried resetting many times the SMC but the problem is remaining. The second strange thing is that yesterday the max fan speed was 3980 rpm and today is 2590...

Did you have any other fan controlling software installed (on win or mac)?
