Sensor Based (min rpm)

Post by mfgage »

I really like the functionality have provided, however...

What would be great is to have a lower min rpm for when people are just writing emails or doing very non-taxing tasks on their computers. The fan is always humming at 4200 rpm even when the computer is not being pushed.

Can there be a default idle rpm (eg. 2000) if the computer is operating below the min temperature?

Thanks for the prompt response. I uninstalled smcFanControl, which is the only other program like this I've ran previously (which is predominantly what the thread you referred me to seems to address).

In Senor-based mode, I'm setting the start-from-temp-to-increase-fan-speed to 104 degrees and am running around 94 degrees and still the fan rpm is pinned to 4200 rpm instead of the default idle of my 2011 MBP.

Here it is attached.

Again, the issue is simple I think. I cannot change the min-rpm in "Sensor" mode. That would be great or an alternative would be to keep the min-rpm the way it is and have an idle speed for the user to set (or the just the default macbook pro speed would be fine).

:D

It's working now! Must be a week later and possibly 2nd reboot since I uninstalled the other mac fan app that may have been conflicting (as was stated may have been the case). Thanks!

If there's recommended settings for MBP 2011, which has sensitive GPU issues apparently, please let me know what they are?
