Looking for help for 27" imac mid 2011

Post by R05 »

I recently changed hard drive and installed "Macs Fan Control" but the fan seems to be running alot louder than it was before. I'm currently trying to set it up on bootcamp windows 7 and i'm wondering if i should stick with the "Automatic" fan control setting. Would it be better to use custom settings? If so what would be good settings?

Thanks.

Sure. I think the reason why you install this app is that you're not satisfied with Apple's own algorithm for the fan. :D

No i was satisfied.

It was quiet and i didnt need to worry about the temperature. The automatic mode just makes it ramp up to the max fan speed. Thats mainly whats bothering me.

If i could make the fans behave the same way they did with the last hard drive sensor it would be great.

By the way, whats tje highest temperature i could reach safely with the imac mid 2011? There dosent seem to be much info on the net.

Thanks

Ill test that out, thanks for the link.

Is that only for the CPU? because the main one im worried about are the GPU Diode and GPU Heatsink. They always seem to be close to 100C.

The CPU looks like its always around 50C at a quiet fan speed.
