HDD activity when displaying HDD temperature in menubar

Post by starbug »

Hi guys, first of all thanks for making such great software ang giving it out for free :D .

Now, for the reason of my post - I just installed Macs fan control and noticed constant HDD ticks (like something being written or read from the disk) about one second apart. I had temperature sensor displaying HDD temperature in menubar. After I switched it off, leaving just the icon up there, the ticking stopped.
Is this normal behavior? (I'm a bit of a nitpick it bugged me a little  )

I have Mavericks 10.9.3 installed, Macs Fan Control 1.1.11 on my iMac 27inch, Mid 2011 (and 1GB WDC drive).

Quering HDD temperature is a simple task and it shouldn't cause such "ticks".
If you're sure that HDD jealth is fine and this behaviour continues, I'd recommend disabling HDD temp in the status bar.
