bug: main window always opens on startup

I have the option "Autostart minimized with system (default)" checked, but the program always opens up the main window each time it's started. Very annoying. I just want it running in the menubar without the main window opening on startup. Either that option is not working properly or it's description is inaccurate. I'm running version 1.1.12.2 on OSX 10.9.5.
