Confusion

I have a first generation Retina MacBook Pro 15" with the the 2.7 GHz quad core i7 processor. Is a 20º-30ºC difference between the proximity sensor and the core 1 sensor normal?

Are both fans supposed to run at 6000 RPM or is the right fan supposed to run at 5500 RPM?

I need to know before I blow my stack at Apple tech support.

Many thanks,

Mark

CPU is HOT (99 C), that's why both fans are spinning up to the max (6000 and 5500 RPM)
This is normal behavior.

Min RPM are set correctly for your model.

I know. I'm just wondering why the proximity sensor is reading so low and if the right fan's 5500 rpm max speed is normal. I could have sworn both fans maxed out at 6000 rpm.

Proximity sensor is not located in the CPU directly, there's no official documentation on this
