Hi,
I installed Macs Fan Control tonight but I am unable to make changes to the ODD Fan. (I can change the HDD and CPU fans with no problem.) As a result, my fan continues to make an irritating blowing noise.
When I try to change the ODD fan, I get a message that says "Something is wrong - min/max fan values are equal (5,100). Please make sure to uninstall any other fan controlling software and reset SMC."
I have done both these things (got rid of old HDD software and reset the SMC) but still the message remains the same. I've attached a couple of screen shots to illustrate.
Any help would be much appreciated. By the way, I am not at all technically inclined; I only know the above acronyms because I have been trying to fix this for a couple of days!
Many thanks.

Re: Can't change min/max fan values
Currently I see 2 possible solutions here:
1. You still didn't reset SMC correctly, please try again following exact instructions for your mac.
2. Some part(s) of old fan controlling software still exist on your Mac. You could try installing a free OS X copy
Correct min and max values for ODD fan for your iMac are 800 and 4800 RPM respectively.

I'm having trouble with the auto fan issue as well. I've reset the SMC and PRAM, and I've scoured my system for old fan software (i tried many, and I've deleted all of them with MacCleanse). Thanks for your help!

Re: Can't change min/max fan values
I can only control one of the fans...the other is on auto all the time, with the max and min fan speeds set at the same speed. I promise promise! that i don't have any remnants of any other fan control software on here, and I've set the PRAM and SMC.

Re: Can't change min/max fan values
Max RPM is definitely nor correct here. Some other software changed it
