lifetime license with free updates - really?

What is the real story on updates? It states clearly on the Crystal Idea website: "The most powerful uninstaller with fair price that includes lifetime license with free updates." That to me means free updates forever. But the purchase page contradicts that, saying it's free only for minor updates, not version changes. The latter is standard, but it's a direct contradiction with "lifetime license with free updates". If the latter case holds true, then this is deceptive and puts me off the product.

The license doesn't expire which makes it lifetime. Major updates come with 50% discount, you can see how often we release major updates at;

If 'lifetime' in 'lifetime license' means the license never expires, then why doesn't 'updates' in 'free updates' mean all updates? There's no qualifier about minor vs major in the promotion blurb.
This is not clear and should be made so in the promotion of the product.

This is the policy of CrystalIDEA.

(*) All updates excluding major version updates are free. Major updates (e.g. update from 2.x versions to 3.x) can be obtained with a significant discount up to 50%.

I'm sure it is the policy. The point is the promotion directly contradicts the policy. That's deceptive.

Any promotion has bit letters and asterisk

Not in the promotion blurb the user sees on the main page.
