Removed Fan - Dusted and Oiled - Possibly Solved

I had bad fan noise..whirring and grinding....so I took the fan out and cleaned out dust bunnies and gave a little WD40 to the bearings.
So far no more bad sound..I do hear a little fan of something..but after wanting to see the fan speed on MFC...and set it to 3020. Nothing.
Did SMC reset...blah blah..etc. Rebooted. Nothing.
UPDATE I had to leave desk while in the middle of writing this. - 45 min later after I shut down Mac Fan Control app.....came back......it seems to be working now. Getting up to 1770-2000.
