once fan starts in never stops.

I had a new SDD installed on my (2009) iMac, the engineer also installed "mac fan control" s/w , everything worked OK until a few weeks ago when the fan control did an update , then for two weeks the fan never came on but the mac worked fine , then the fan came on one day and just stayed on until i had to reboot the mac after a couple of days to stop the fan. Then it didnt initialize for a week and today it has started again and has been running for about 6hrs. the mac works fine and is barely warm to touch but it looks like i will have to reboot my mac to stop the fan again , unfortunately the engineer is not responding to emails for help even though the fan s/w is less than 6 month old. Any advice would be appreciated.
