Ambient sensor help

Just started to play with Macs Fan Control.

To what does the ambient temperature refer- is the room temperature?
My imac has been on all morning in a room that is at 23deg C.
The software says the Ambient is 8 deg C and fan speed 1392rpm - normal imac fan speed.

So again, what is the Ambient temp referring.

iMac is the latest 2012, 20 inch version.
Im running the software as a trial as I think it will help sort a diagnosis problem on a 2009 imac thats coming to me.

Please copy technical information from the About dialog
A screenshot of main window would be also great
Thanks

Just want to know what the Ambient refers to - is it the outside air temp, though as you can see it shows 10 deg C in a room at 25 deg C - very warm day here in the UK near Manchester.

Ambient usually tells about air temperature in the iMac case. 10 is really strange

Please press the button "Copy technical info" and share the output

thank you, it looks like this value is not correct on imac 13,1, just checked another iMac.
What is min, max value for Ambient on your iMac? (approx)

Excuse my understanding but how do I find the min/max ambient for my iMac?

Is this part of your software or new imacs specification in general?

Just empirical, visually. Does it change actually?

Came across a thread regarding iStat - a similar thing I believe and several people with new 2012 iMacs have an ambient reading of around 9 degrees - their gurus suggest its a programme thing making the software incompatible as far as ambient readings go.

Steve

ps I have just installed the same version of Macs Fan Control 1.1.0 (imac13,1) on to a 2008 intel iMac with Mountain Lion and the ambient there is 25 deg C - room temp is around 24 deg C.

Hhhmmmm

me again, over the last hour the ambient has flicked from 9 degC to 7 deg C and back again.

As far as I can tell the room has stayed at a constant temp too.

It looks like this sensor should be removed when running MFC on iMac13,1, as its value is not correct (9 deg C is not possible inside a computer)

Will you be able to correct this in a later version of this overall excellent bit of software?

Well, шt's very simple to remove this sensor, for now you can simply ignore its value. Currently need some more data to remove it - ithere're only 2 computers with the same issue. If it's systematic - the sensor will be removed.
