Mac Mini 2009 with busted hard drive sensor

Folks,

I busted the hard drive sensor (the one that sticks to the housing) when updating internal components in my 2009 Mac Mini. As predicted, the fans ran full bore when I turned it on. I use Macs Fan Control to deal with the problem. Two questions:

1 - Will my Mini still shut off automatically if the CPU, for example, exceeds safe temperatures?

2 - My Northbridge Chip is around 80C when I'm doing minimal things like running a browser to type this and playing a BBC Flash stream (see attached image). Is that an acceptable temp for this chip or should I do something about it?

Hi,

1. As far I know, it won't shut down. Check max temp for your cpu here (and post results as well)
